Here in Wisconsin the cold has set in. We know the cold is coming and yet so many of us think of the negatives: It is cold, it gets dark so much earlier, big bulky coats have to be worn, mittens are back, etc., Well it is all about the way we perceive things! Such as, “Woo hoo”, the cool fresh air is rejuvenating, I have more time to cuddle up with my loved ones as the evenings are getting dark sooner, I get to pull out a whole new wardrobe of coats, mittens, boots, hats, leggings, layered tops, etc., Find all the positives in your day, big or small, and all the happy will follow.
Every day is a new day to make it what you want it to be. When your eyes open in the morning make a conscious decision that the day is going to be amazing. Maybe you have time to grab one of your favorite morning beverages from a favorite coffee house. Maybe you see a good friend drive by and wave at you that puts a huge smile on your face. Or a text or email comes through from someone dear you have not heard from in a while. Happiness really is in the little things that cross your path every day. At any time, if you are having a hard time finding your happy, think of three positive things in your life. Such as, #1 I have a safe and warm house, #2 I have food when I am hungry, and #3 I have clean water. There are so many positives around us that are little and simple that we do not think about.
Everyone has a different sense of how to bring out the best they can be when they are feeling a little stress. Some find those amazing souls that motivate, inspire, and uplift the stress away. Personally, I need to be on the move, such as go for a walk with a good friend and talk about what is going on. It helps me process everything and then it is my friends turn to talk about what they have going on so they can process. After all I am a strong believer we are all a work in progress in our lives.
